All God or All Man?

Balancing Divine Sovereignty and Human Responsibility

Throughout Christian history, believers have wrestled with a vital question:
How much of salvation is God's doing, and how much is our responsibility?
Some argue that salvation is entirely God's work; others emphasize human choice and responsibility.

LEARN FROM THE NATURE OF CHRIST: 100% God, 100% Man

Salvation is both fully divine and fully human in response.

  • God gave all—Jesus offered 100%.

  • We are called to respond with all—99% commitment is not enough.

Psalm 36:9 – A Hidden Revelation

“For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light.

This verse reveals a powerful truth about how salvation works:

1. God Provides the Light (Divine Initiative)

  • “In your light…” — God initiates. Without His light, we cannot see.

  • This points to divine grace and revelation, made fully accessible through Christ.

“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them.” (John 6:44)

2. We Must Choose to See (Human Response)

  • “…we see light.” — The light is provided, but we must choose to look.

  • God doesn’t believe for us. His light doesn’t automatically open our eyes.

“But whoever does not believe stands condemned already.” (John 3:18)

Conclusion: Partnership in Salvation

Psalm 36:9 beautifully illustrates the mystery of salvation:

  • God gives the light (grace).

  • We must see (faith and response).

So, whether you lean toward the doctrine of election or free will, this verse affirms both:
God will do His part—and we must do ours.
