Still We Praise – Even in the Chaos
A Devotion on Psalm 44
44:1: He mentions that the "ancestors have told us what you did in their days" that's another example of encouraging us to evangelize so that generations will hear the story of God and his son Jesus.
44:2 and 3: these verses reminds me of Genesis where God is creating humans and he says let's make them in "our image," so in verse 2 here it says "with your hand" as in God's hand took action and verse 3 he mentions "your right hand, your arm, your face..." so let's think and act more like God and use our mind to think about him, our heart to believe in him and our body to act on his Word.
44:6: Although he puts no trust in his tools like his bow and sword, he still uses the tools but he never forgets to give praise to God. So whether we're at work, taking care of our family, our pets or others, let's always give praise to our Lord and not selfishly think that it's us alone that gets the promotion, or helps out a friendits through God that we can do these things.
44:9-22: He mentioned that even though they didn't forget about the Lord and they tried their best to not go against God's covenant all these bad things were still happening. Some may ask why is that? They were being good Christians but they were dealing with chaos?
44:26 And lastly in verse 26 he mentions "rise up and help us rescue us because of your unfailing love." Although all these terrible things are happening, he doesn't forget about God's unfailing love. This could be a parent who's trying to be a great Christian role model to their children but the child rebukes it. This could also be the worker who has listened to their boss but then got passed over for the promotion. This could even be looking at how parts of the world are in chaos, very real chaos. So what can we do when we're seeing all these things happening? We have to remember that there are good, bad and neutral seasons in life.
Sometimes those seasons last a day, a month or even a decade. God still loves us through the favourable and unfavourable seasons.
Thank goodness!
