WAKE ME UP, OH LORD!

Psalm 39:5“You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.”

Take a moment—close your eyes and quietly repeat these words:
“Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.”

Now ask yourself:
Do I truly believe this?
Do my actions reflect this belief?

THE FLEETING NATURE OF LIFE

Coming from the background I came from, I have witnessed the fragility of life firsthand. Entire communities can cease to exist in a very short period of time. People I once knew intimately have vanished from my memory. I cannot even recall the face of my own father.

How is it that, even with all these reminders, we so easily forget how short life really is?

THE FORGETFULNESS OF FALLEN HUMANITY

The fall of man has wiped away many of the truths that were once written on the human soul. Chief among them is this:
God is our true home, and our time here is brief.

But in our fallen condition, we live in denial—pursuing distractions, clinging to illusions of permanence, and spending our days on things of passing value.

“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
(Psalm 90:12)

Lord, wake me up.
Remind me of eternity.
Redirect my energy toward what truly matters.
